Sana'a: Rosaria Bruno, the representative of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen, described the expanded humanitarian meeting held in Sana'a in late July as an important step toward opening direct dialogue channels between relevant authorities, international, and local organizations.

According to Yemen News Agency, Bruno emphasized a strong commitment to finding practical solutions to previous challenges and facilitating humanitarian work during her exclusive interview on the sidelines of the meeting. She highlighted the mutual understanding of the need to reach the most vulnerable groups while respecting Yemen's sovereignty and laws regulating humanitarian efforts. Bruno also commended the generosity and resilience of the Yemeni people amidst growing humanitarian challenges.

Partnership between stakeholders and UN/international organizations is deemed essential for successful humanitarian work. Bruno pointed out that international organizations' efforts complement government efforts, especially under conditions of limited funding and project suspensions. This cooperation is vital for addressing emergency responses such as cholera control.

Bruno addressed the current funding challenges, noting a significant decline in global funding that has impacted the ability to respond effectively in Yemen. However, she mentioned discussions with donors about increasing support, which could improve the situation in the future. Bruno expressed hope that recent efforts will attract additional support, with some donors showing initial readiness to provide new funding.

Bruno's message to the Yemeni people highlighted their unmatched determination and strength in the face of increasing needs. She reassured that humanitarian workers remain committed to serving the most vulnerable with neutrality and humanity.
