Officials Discuss Completing Ministry Merger Process in Education Sector

Sana'a: A meeting held in the capital Sana'a on Monday discussed procedures for completing the merger process within the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research as part of broader administrative reform efforts.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting was chaired by Minister of Civil Service and Administrative Development Dr. Khaled al-Hawali, who also serves as Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Merger Committee, and attended by Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan al-Sa'adi. Participants reviewed progress made in implementing executive measures related to the transfer and integration of merged units within the ministry, as well as mechanisms for coordination between technical committees and the ministry during the merger process.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research Dr. Hatem al-Duais, ministry undersecretaries, Head of the Technical Committee for Merger Implementation Dr. Tareq al-Barraq, members of the committee, and Chairman of the Academic Accreditation Council Dr. Adel al-Mutari.

During the meeting, al-Hawali said the merger process represents one of the executive steps under the government's reform and development program and reflects efforts toward administrative reform and institutional modernization. He noted that merger committees had completed inventory, analysis, reporting, and drafting of regulatory frameworks during the previous phase, explaining that the current stage requires transitioning to the new organizational structure in order to improve efficiency, strengthen coordination, and simplify administrative procedures.

For his part, Minister al-Sa'adi affirmed the ministry's commitment to maintaining and improving services provided to beneficiaries during the transitional phase, stressing the importance of cooperation and support for technical committees to accelerate the merger process within available resources. He added that completing the merger process represents a real opportunity to improve institutional performance and strengthen integration among the merged sectors and affiliated institutions within the ministry.
