Oncology Unit Expansion Inaugurated in Sa’ada

Saada:Sa'ada: A new expansion project at the oncology unit of the Republican Hospital Authority was inaugurated by Sa'ada governor Mohammed Awad. This development was made possible through joint funding from the National Cancer Control Foundation and the Cancer Control Fund.

According to Yemen News Agency, Governor Awad, accompanied by Dr. Ismail Al-Warfi, Head of the Republican Hospital Authority, Abdullah Al-Hadwi, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Hassan Al-Muta'ish, Director of the National Cancer Control Foundation's branch in Sa'ada, toured the newly expanded sections. The facility now includes nine beds and seventeen chairs for chemotherapy, along with an additional eleven beds in the women's section.

Officials briefed the delegation on the medical equipment, the capacity of the departments, and the unit's needs for additional medical devices and services. Governor Awad highlighted that this important expansion aligns with the Yemeni people's celebrations of the 12th anniversary of the September 21 Revolution. He emphasized that the project addresses the increasing demand for specialized medical services due to a rise in cancer cases linked to the use of banned pesticides and ongoing aggression.

The governor praised the contributions of the National Cancer Control Foundation, the Cancer Control Fund, and the administration of the Republican Hospital Authority for their efforts in providing much-needed healthcare and support to cancer patients in the region. He urged the Cancer Control Fund to enhance collaboration with the oncology unit by supplying medical specialists and essential medications, thus easing the burden on patients who would otherwise have to travel to the capital, Sana'a.

Dr. Al-Warfi stressed the significance of the expansion in meeting the needs of the growing number of cancer patients. He called for unified efforts and focused attention on combating this serious disease by ensuring the availability of diagnostic and therapeutic resources within Sa'ada Governorate.
