Prophet’s Great Football Championship for Talented Players Kicks Off in Sana’a

Sana'a: The Prophet's Great Sports Football Championship for youth categories kicked off in Sana'a Governorate as part of the celebrations marking the Prophet's Birthday for 1448 AH.

According to Yemen News Agency, the tournament is organized by the governorate's Youth and Sports Office, the General Mobilization Youth Unit, and the Talented Sports School. It features a lineup of eight junior teams divided into two groups, eight youth teams, and 16 senior youth teams divided into four groups, showcasing a wide range of talent.

Youth and Sports Office Director Abdul Mohsen Al-Sharif emphasized the importance of combining sports and cultural activities during the Prophet's Birthday celebrations. He noted that these activities serve to raise awareness among young people about the significance of the occasion, enhance their connection with the Prophet, foster camaraderie among the teams, and develop their cultural, sporting, and social talents.

The championship opened with two junior matches, where Mawahib Ittihad Al-Bourzan claimed victory over Mawahib Abu Obaida with a score of 5-3. In another match, Mawahib Al-Dhubaibi triumphed over Mawahib Ahfad Bilal, finishing 5-2.

Sports Activities Director Nabil Al-Namous announced that the youth-category matches are scheduled to begin on Monday, with senior youth competitions following on Tuesday. The tournament will proceed with two matches daily, conducted under a round-robin system, and is expected to run for 20 days.
