Sana'a: The US-Saudi-Emirati coalition has continued its aggressive operations across Yemen, marking years of airstrikes and artillery shelling against civilian homes and infrastructure as well as public facilities in several governorates. These acts, which have resulted in numerous casualties and injuries, include targeted assaults on May 6th over several consecutive years, leaving a tragic imprint on the nation.
According to Yemen News Agency, the violence began on May 6, 2015, when airstrikes in Dhamar city resulted in the martyrdom of 11 people and injuries to 18 others. The attacks destroyed police training centers and nearby homes. On the same day in Saada, 27 citizens were killed, with additional casualties in a shelling attack in Kitaf district. The aggression continued in the Majz district, resulting in further loss of life.
In subsequent years, the aggression persisted, with May 6, 2016, witnessing artillery and Katyusha rocket shelling in Sana'a and Marib governorates, along with targeted attacks in Taiz and Lahj. The following year, 2017, saw airstrikes and cluster bombs dropped in Mocha and other districts, continuing the pattern of destruction.
By 2018, the aggression extended to Hodeida and Saada governorates, where airstrikes claimed more lives and destroyed vital infrastructure. The pattern repeated in 2019, with airstrikes in Hajjah, coupled with artillery shelling in Hodeidah, highlighting the relentless nature of the conflict.
The aggression continued into 2020 with airstrikes in Marib, and the following year, artillery shelling in Saada led to further casualties. In 2022, reconnaissance aircraft and artillery shelling persisted in Hodeida and other regions, leading to further destruction and loss of life.
The most recent attacks on May 6, 2023, involved the construction of combat fortifications by mercenaries in Taiz and airstrikes in Hays district, underscoring the ongoing nature of the aggression.
