Sana'a: The Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in the Capital Sana'a launched rehabilitation and deepening works on the Sa'awan water well in Shu'ub district, aiming to improve water supply for residents. During the launch, Corporation Director Mohammed Madaes, accompanied by his deputy Ali Zabara and several officials, inspected the condition of the well and ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation works.
According to Yemen News Agency, Madaes explained that the well is the only water source in the Sa'wan area, serving more than 30,000 residents, emphasizing the importance of restoring it to ensure the provision of clean and safe drinking water. He noted that the project includes cleaning, deepening the well, and repairing damage to lower soil layers that had caused water turbidity, urging technical teams to intensify efforts and complete the work promptly.
Meanwhile, Technical Director Fayez al-Anqi stated that the well's production had dropped from 54 cubic meters per hour to 34 cubic meters due to blockages, making these emergency interventions necessary to restore its capacity.
