Shanghai: A recent industry report indicates that China currently accounts for more than 40% of the world's 5G-connected devices, with projections indicating that this number will exceed 1.7 billion by 2030. According to Yemen News Agency, the "China Mobile Economy 2026" report, prepared by the GSM Association, highlighted China's leadership in adopting 5G technologies and its role in shaping future advanced communications applications. The expansion of network coverage and increased capacity has led to a focus shift from merely connecting users to providing smarter, efficient services, including support for artificial intelligence applications and immersive digital services. The report further indicated that more than 330 cities across China now have access to advanced 5G technologies, strengthening digital infrastructure and driving digital transformation in economic sectors. Available data shows that China's mobile communications sector's economic value reached approximately $1.5 trillion in 2025, which was 7.2% of GDP, with projections indicating a rise to $2.1 trillion by 2030.
