Review of Planning Matrix for Industrial Areas in Sana’a Governorate

Sana'a: A meeting held in Sana'a today, which included the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Economy for the Industry and Economic Cities Sector, Engineer Sami Maqbuli, the Sana'a Governorate for the Investment Sector, Yahya Jam'an, and the Investment Authority, Mohammed Al-Farza'i, discussed the planning matrix for industrial area sites in Sana'a Governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the meeting reviewed the tasks and competencies of the supervisory committee for following up on the planning of industrial areas through coordination among the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Investment, the local authority in Sana'a Governorate, the General Investment Authority, and the General Authority for Lands, Survey, and Urban Planning.

During the meeting, attended by the Directors of Economy and Industry in the Governorate, Fahd Al-Gharbani, and Industrial Areas, Fahim Shamsan, Maqbuli, Jam'an, and Al-Farza'i explained that a roadmap for sustainable industrial transformation (2026-2030) has been approved, aiming to transfer the industrial sector from a mere idea to a tangible reality, through a five-year time plan ensuring a smooth transition without harming the local economy or disrupting or halting production.

They indicated that the first year, 2026, will be dedicated to foundation and legislation, preparing the engineering plan for establishing alternative industrial areas, taking into consideration the nature of appropriate use for each area.

Meanwhile, the Director of Planning at the Lands Authority, Engineer Abdulghani Al-Ansi, reviewed the map for the next phase, which will focus on preparing new industrial areas in preparation for gradually transferring factories from unplanned areas to organized industrial areas, achieving environmental safety requirements and limiting health, residential, and environmental damages.

He confirmed that the plan aims to prevent issuing new licenses in unplanned areas, within the framework of regulating industrial activity and enhancing sustainable development, aligning with the goals of Vision 2030 in improving the urban environment and achieving a balance between economic development and community protection.
