Sana'a: Sana'a City team won the beach volleyball championship for national teams, named after the martyred President Saleh al-Sammad, which was held on al-Kutayb Beach in Hodeida Governorate. Sana'a City team secured the title after defeating the Hodeida Governorate team, the defending champions, in the final match with a score of two sets to none. The Hodeida team finished in second place, while the al-Bayda Governorate team came in third.
According to Yemen News Agency, the championship was organized by the Steering Committee of the Yemeni Volleyball Federation, under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and with support from the Youth and Sports Development Fund, Kamran Company, and the Red Sea Ports Corporation, from January 26 to 29, 2026. Eleven teams representing the Capital Governorate and the governorates of Hodeida, Sana'a, al-Bayda, Sa'dah, Taiz, Ibb, Amran, al-Mahwit, Hajjah, and Dhamar participated in the championship, which was characterized by a high level of technical skill and positive competition among the participating teams.
At the closing ceremony, the Deputy Governor of Hodeida, Mohammed Halisi, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports for the Youth and Sports Sector, Ali Hadban, the Director of the Youth and Sports Office in the governorate, Emad Al-Barai, and the Head of the Volleyball Federation's Steering Committee, Walid Fay'a, honored the winning teams with trophies, medals, and cash prizes, as well as the committees that worked and contributed to the success of the tournament.
Sana'a City team, comprised of players Fahd Talib and Taha Ghulam, won the first-place trophy and gold medals. The Hodeida Governorate team, comprised of players Tariq Sharaf and Ali Al-Ahdal, won the second-place trophy and silver medals, while the al-Bayda Governorate team won the third-place trophy and bronze medals. Sana'a City team was also honored for winning first place in the cultural competition held alongside the tournament.
The tournament and closing ceremony witnessed a significant official and public turnout, including a number of local and sports leaders and representatives of relevant authorities, among them the Head of the Hodeida branch of the Yemeni Volleyball Federation, Ismail Abu Hadi, and the Secretary-General of Al-Mina District, Hassan Rasmi.
