Sana'a: The General Authority for Environment and Climate Change launched on Tuesday the second phase of its environmental inspection and awareness campaign in the capital and Sana'a Governorate, targeting the use of waste oils in bakeries, ovens, and steam baths.
According to Yemen News Agency, the campaign, running until 10 Sha'ban, aims to prevent the use of harmful waste oils as fuel, regulate their sale, and ensure distribution only to licensed contractors. Inspection teams will monitor bakeries, food factories, steam baths, and automotive oil-change shops, while raising public awareness on the health and environmental risks of waste oil emissions.
Mohammed Amer, head of the Authority, emphasized the campaign's role in enforcing environmental safety standards and reducing carcinogenic pollutants. Field teams will conduct inspections, evaluations, and daily reporting on service facilities. Local directors highlighted the importance of outreach and education through brochures and posters to inform the public about the dangers of waste oil use.
