Sana'a: Sana'a University has strengthened its academic and research standing after achieving further progress in the AD Scientific Index (July 2026 edition). The university rose to 3,176th globally among 24,839 higher education institutions, up from 3,597th in the 2025 ranking, maintaining its position as Yemen's top-ranked university for the fifth consecutive year. It also ranked 1,003rd in Asia.
According to Yemen News Agency, among the 19,609 universities included in the July 2026 edition, Sana'a University climbed 560 places worldwide, moving from 2,816th in 2025 to 2,256th, while advancing 232 places in Asia, from 1,040th to 808th. The ranking highlights Sana'a University's continued dominance over other Yemeni universities, with Ibb University ranked 3,382nd globally, followed by Dhamar University at 3,481st. The ranking included 37 Yemeni universities out of more than 80 operating across the country.
University President Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhaiti said the achievement reflects the university's growing academic reputation and the sustained efforts of its faculty, researchers, students, and administrative staff to enhance research quality and meet international standards. He affirmed the university's commitment to improving education, scientific research, innovation, community service, academic programs, digital infrastructure, and research support, while encouraging publication in internationally recognized journals to strengthen its global competitiveness.
The AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index) is a leading global ranking that evaluates research performance based on Google Scholar data, the H-index, the i10-index, and citation counts. The 2026 edition covers more than 2.6 million researchers from 221 countries, spanning 13 major scientific fields and 221 sub-disciplines.
