Sana'a: The Second Scientific Conference on Ophthalmology commenced at Sana'a University, organized by its Faculty of Medicine's Ophthalmology Department. This two-day event is attended by academics, consultants, and specialists from various governorates, aiming to discuss modern advancements in ophthalmology and address practical medical challenges.
According to Yemen News Agency, the conference's objectives include introducing modern treatment protocols, focusing on practical case studies, and encouraging researchers and postgraduate students to contribute research papers to enrich the scientific and medical content in Yemen's ophthalmology field.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Bukhiti, President of Sana'a University, emphasized the pride of the university in hosting such events despite current challenges. He highlighted the importance of addressing real-world case studies and exchanging expertise to improve Yemen's health situation in ophthalmology, asserting that the university's graduates fulfill the needs of all Yemeni regions and are recognized internationally.
Dr. Mohammed Al-Shahari and Dr. Yahya Al-Ghasali noted that the conference includes 400 participants and will feature 60 working papers and scientific lectures across nine sessions. These sessions will cover the latest advancements in ophthalmology, with two sessions dedicated to young ophthalmologists. A scientific committee will evaluate research papers, awarding scholarships to the four best papers for an international conference in Alexandria.
Dr. Mahfouz Bamashmous, head of the scientific committee, highlighted the conference's role in scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange. The event aims to enhance ophthalmology standards, focusing on various topics such as corneal and retinal diseases, cataracts, glaucoma, and the latest diagnostic and treatment techniques.
In conclusion, the conference serves as a platform for sharing research findings, supporting Yemeni and Arab postgraduate students, and fostering academic and professional growth. The opening ceremony included honoring the university's officials and the exhibition of the latest ophthalmology equipment and supplies.
