Sana'a: The Center for Political and Strategic Studies, in collaboration with the Center for Development and Quality Assurance at Sana'a University, organized a workshop on Tuesday to formally launch a new PhD program in Diplomacy and International Affairs. The program aims to train specialized personnel in diplomacy and international relations, enabling them to track emerging political phenomena, foster creative academic research, keep pace with continuous developments, and master the core rules and principles governing international affairs.
According to Yemen News Agency, speaking at the opening of the workshop, Assistant to the University Chairman for Scientific and Research Centers, Dr. Zaid Al-Warith, highlighted the importance of discussing and enhancing the doctoral curriculum. He noted that the program will provide research, advisory, and training services while opening new academic advancement opportunities for specialists in the field. Dr. Al-Warith commended the center's initiative in launching this specialized program, which was developed with input from academics, researchers, and political partners at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to align with the requirements of the political and diplomatic job market. He called on researchers to conduct practical studies aimed at addressing Yemen's diplomatic and political challenges and providing actionable recommendations to national decision-makers.
For her part, Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Huda Al-Imad, explained that the program seeks to build distinguished academic capacity in sovereign issues and diplomatic work, meeting the standards of local, regional, and international research institutions. Dr. Al-Imad stated that the curriculum aims to strengthen Yemen's diplomatic and sovereign role by imparting practical skills and academic knowledge based on international comparative standards. She also stressed the importance of grounding diplomatic education in national identity and wisdom to safeguard practitioners against misleading political concepts and theories.
Meanwhile, Director of the Center for Political and Strategic Studies Dr. Hussein Motahar noted that launching the PhD program marks a major milestone in the university's mission to advance postgraduate studies and serve state institutions. Dr. Motahar added that rapid global strategic transformations require a deeper understanding of evolving concepts of power and international relations. He highlighted the center's commitment to serving as a hub for strategic thought, solid academic research, and policy support for national decision-making.
