Sana'a: Rector of Sana'a University Dr. Mohammed al-Bukhaiti has commended the achievements of Dr. Tareq al-Shami and Dr. Ali al-Muntasir for being ranked among the world's top 2% most-cited scientists. This recognition is based on a list released by Stanford University, which utilizes Scopus data to evaluate the global research impact of scientists.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. al-Bukhaiti emphasized that this acknowledgment highlights the esteemed research status of Sana'a University and reflects its commitment to advancing scientific research. The university places a high priority on encouraging and supporting its researchers, and plans are underway to honor both Dr. al-Shami and Dr. al-Muntasir for their contributions and accomplishments.
Dr. al-Bukhaiti noted that Dr. al-Shami has maintained his leading position for the fourth consecutive year among Yemeni university researchers. This year's list includes 22 scientists from various institutions. Dr. al-Shami achieved a global rank of 128,536 in the category of most-cited researchers over a lifetime career, with 154 research papers published from 2018 to 2025 and 3,456 citations in 'General Mathematics' within the broader discipline of 'Mathematics and Statistics.'
In 2024, Dr. al-Shami was also recognized as one of the most-cited researchers, attaining a global rank of 11,662 with 154 publications and 989 citations in that year alone. Meanwhile, Dr. Ali al-Muntasir was ranked tenth among Yemeni researchers most cited in 2024, with a global rank of 149,864, 37 published papers from 2018 to 2024, and 523 citations in 'Applied Physics' under the broader discipline of 'Physics and Astronomy.'
The list of the top 2% most-cited scientists is a significant tool for assessing global research impact, utilizing metrics from the Scopus database.
