Sana'a: The Water and Environment Center at Sana'a University, in partnership with international and local organizations, launched a 15-day training course to strengthen capacities in integrated water resource management and loss reduction in water networks.
According to Yemen News Agency, the course aims to train 20 engineers and specialists from the Local Water and Sanitation Corporation in the capital Sana'a on modern approaches to water management, including demand control, supply enhancement, hydrological modeling, and the use of GIS and remote sensing technologies.
Officials stated that the program is part of broader efforts to improve water and sanitation services and address challenges such as water scarcity, groundwater depletion, and rising demand.
Speakers at the opening stressed the importance of strengthening institutional capacity, improving technical skills, and adopting scientific tools to manage water losses and enhance resource efficiency.
The training also focuses on evaluating water loss in urban networks, analyzing performance indicators, and exploring solutions such as rainwater harvesting and energy optimization for water systems.
Participants and organizers emphasized the urgent need for sustainable water management solutions in light of increasing pressure on water resources in Yemen.
