Saudi Escalation in Yemen Results in 385 Casualties, Says Human Rights Commission

Sanaa:The National Human Rights Commission has reported that 385 people have been killed or injured due to war crimes and acts of genocide by Saudi forces and their allies against the Yemeni population. This violence has been ongoing since the beginning of September and continued until October 12.

According to Yemen News Agency, the commission's statement revealed that the victims were spread across 13 Yemeni governorates, comprising 107 fatalities and 278 injuries. Disturbingly, over 60% of these casualties are women and children, indicating targeted attacks on residential areas. The Saudi-led forces have launched 2,177 raids involving missiles and artillery, impacting crucial infrastructure, homes, markets, roads, and communication networks.

The commission noted recent intensifications of these attacks, citing airstrikes in various districts, including Al-Hazm in Al-Jawf Governorate, Kamaran Island, Al-Qanawis in Hodeidah Governorate, and Harf Sufyan in Amran Governorate. In Saada Governorate, the regime targeted Maran and Ghumar Districts, with deliberate strikes on telecommunications networks constituting organized war crimes.

The statement highlighted an incident in Taiz Governorate, where a woman sustained serious injuries from an airstrike on her home in Jabal Habashi District. The commission condemned these actions as acts of aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing, in violation of international law, specifically Articles 6 and 7 of the Rome Statute.

The Human Rights Commission called on the United Nations and the Security Council to intervene, urging them to halt the Saudi escalation and hold its leaders accountable before the International Criminal Court. The commission criticized global inaction as a shame upon humanity.
