Sana'a:The National Commission for Human Rights has condemned recent actions by Saudi-led coalition aircraft, which reportedly targeted economic and civilian facilities in Sana'a City.
According to Yemen News Agency, the commission stated that the coalition launched raids on the "Samaa Al-Nahda" factory for construction and electrical materials in the Al-Jumana area, as well as a foam factory in the Shamlan area. These actions have been labeled as direct attacks on civilian economic facilities, which employ hundreds of workers.
The commission emphasized that these attacks constitute a war crime and violate international humanitarian law by targeting civilian structures not used for military purposes. The statement highlighted that such actions breach Article 52 of Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions, which protects civilian objects. The commission accused the Saudi forces of aiming to dismantle Yemen's economic infrastructure and exacerbate the population's hardships, leading to job losses.
The commission also noted the danger posed to civilians in densely populated neighborhoods, suggesting that the bombings are intended to instill fear and endanger lives. The escalation in Sana'a follows similar actions in other regions, indicating a broader strategy against Yemen's basic living conditions.
The National Commission for Human Rights holds the Saudi regime legally and criminally accountable and urges the United Nations, along with the UN Envoy and the International Labour Organization, to condemn these attacks on civilian factories.
