Scholarly Gathering in Sana’a Condemns Insults to Holy Quran and Urges Defense of Islamic Sanctities

Sana'a: A large scholarly gathering took place in Sana'a, where the Yemeni Scholars Association organized an event under the title "The Responsibility of Scholars in Defending the Holy Quran and Islamic Sanctities and Mobilizing the Nation for Jihad Against America and Israel." The assembly voiced strong disapproval of perceived American and Zionist denigrations of the Quran.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Grand Mufti of Yemen and head of the Scholars Association, Sheikh Shams al-Din Sharaf al-Din, led the gathering by emphasizing the essential duty of scholars to support and protect Islam. He stated that divine justice will inevitably respond to those who insult the Holy Quran. The Mufti lamented the distraction of Arab and Muslim nations by entertainment, which he feels distances them from their religion.

Allamah Sharaf al-Din addressed the perceived indifference of nations towards religious insults, asserting that Yemen has taken a firm stand in defense of the Quran. He highlighted the mobilization of the Yemeni people and leadership, including a statement by Abdul-Malik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, as evidence of their active stance.

The Mufti further questioned the lack of resistance from other nations to Western hegemony, attributing Yemen's steadfastness to its faith and divine blessing. He called for continued unity and action to uphold Islamic values and expressed regret over the normalization efforts with Israel by other factions and nations.

The gathering also featured speeches by other prominent Yemeni scholars, including Abdul-Majid al-Houthi and Hamdi Ziyad, who condemned the silence of the Muslim world regarding insults to the Holy Quran. They urged unity among Muslims and a return to the teachings of the Quran as a means to combat external threats and internal divisions.

The event concluded with calls for continued demonstrations and actions in support of Islamic identity and resistance against perceived enemies of Islam. The scholars emphasized the role of faith and unity in achieving victory and urged educational reforms to strengthen Quranic recitation skills among students.

The meeting was attended by various scholars and leaders from multiple Yemeni governorates, underscoring the collective resolve to defend Islamic sanctities and the Holy Quran against perceived external insults and threats.
