Al-mahwit: The Public Works and Roads Corporation branch in Al-Mahwit Governorate has embarked on the second phase of a project aimed at rehabilitating and paving the southern ring road in Mahweet City. This initiative is funded by the Roads and Bridges Maintenance Fund.
According to Yemen News Agency, the launch event featured remarks from Dr. Ali Al-Zaykum, Secretary-General of the Local Council, who emphasized the project's significance in enhancing the city's road infrastructure. The development is expected to facilitate the movement of vehicles, especially trucks and heavy-duty vehicles, by improving connectivity along the Sanaa-Mahwet and Mahweet-Hodeida roads. It also aims to reduce congestion and protect essential road and public service facilities.
Dr. Al-Zaykum commended the efforts of the Public Works and Roads Corporation and the Roads and Bridges Maintenance Fund for their commitment to road maintenance and rehabilitation across the governorate. He reiterated the local authority's dedication to supporting service agencies and addressing challenges in infrastructure projects to boost economic and developmental activities.
The launch event was attended by Governorate Undersecretaries Abdul Salam Al-Dhamari, Hamoud Shamlan, and Ahmed Al-Qatmah. Engineer Ahmed Al-Yanai, Director of the Executive Unit for Rural Roads and Projects, outlined that the project targets a dual carriageway used by heavy vehicles and is connected to major routes. He detailed the rehabilitation work, which includes repairing damaged sections and repaving the road according to engineering standards.
Al-Yanai highlighted the project's adherence to technical specifications to ensure the road's durability and capacity to handle traffic efficiently, providing a safer and smoother route for all users.
