Amran: The Secretary-General of the Local Council in Amran province, Saleh Al-Makhlous, and the province's Deputy, Hassan Al-Ashqas, have initiated a project to distribute sewing machines to 110 beneficiaries from the most impoverished families in the Amran District. This project is a collaborative effort by the Yemeni Red Crescent Society and the Qatari Red Crescent under the Emergency Response Project.
According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative seeks to provide livelihood opportunities for vulnerable families and equip them with skills for economic empowerment. During the distribution ceremony, Al-Makhlous highlighted the project's significance in uplifting the poorest families, particularly women, by equipping them with crafts and trades that generate income.
Al-Makhlous encouraged beneficiaries to utilize the sewing and embroidery resources to enhance their living conditions and suggested forming an association to market their products locally. This development could potentially increase their income and help them tackle economic challenges. He also called for expanding such projects to reach remote districts and support small businesses to foster a self-reliant society. He commended the Yemeni Red Crescent and the Qatari Red Crescent for their humanitarian efforts.
Ibrahim Al-Dharhani, Director of the Social Affairs Office in the governorate, reiterated the project's role in aiding the poorest families through economic empowerment. He emphasized the importance of providing job opportunities, skill development, and income-generating capabilities to needy families.
Ali Al-Azzab, head of the Yemeni Red Crescent Society in the governorate, explained that the project, which includes training for beneficiaries, is part of the society's broader program to enhance livelihoods. The provision of sewing machines aims to bolster the capacities of the poorest families, enabling them to become self-sufficient.
Beneficiary families expressed their gratitude for the support provided by the Yemeni Red Crescent amid the country's current challenges. The distribution event was attended by key figures, including Amran District Director Abdulrahman Al-Ammad, Qatari Red Crescent Coordinator Yusra Al-Shami, and Public Relations Officer Mohammed Kamil.
