Hodeidah: The Shabab Al-Maseera team was crowned with the cup of the second edition of the Martyr Captain Abdullah Shara and Martyrs of Ports Tournament for the year 1447 AH / 2026 AD, after its victory in the final match held today at the Al-Qal'ah Stadium in Hodeidah city.
According to Yemen News Agency, Shabab Al-Maseera's coronation came after its penalty shootout victory over its competitor, the Al-Majd team, which came in second place, following the original match time ending in a goalless draw. The tournament was organized by the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Foundation under the supervision of the Governorate's Youth and Sports Office, with the participation of 48 sports teams whose competitions lasted throughout the month of Ramadan.
At the conclusion of the match, the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Red Sea Ports Foundation, Nasr Al-Nusairi, the Director of the Youth and Sports Office in the governorate, Emad Al-Barai, and the Director of the Office of the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Foundation, Ali Al-Ansi, honored the Shabab Al-Maseera team with the first-place cup and gold medals, and the Al-Majd team with the second-place cup and silver medals.
Outstanding individuals were also honored with individual awards, where player Marwan Al-Ramadi received the tournament's top scorer award, player Essam Mohammed received the best player award, and goalkeeper Wael Gharsan received the best goalkeeper award in the tournament.
The celebration witnessed the honoring of the leadership of the Yemeni Red Sea Ports Foundation with a certificate of appreciation presented by the management of the Coastal Al-Majd Club, in appreciation of their role and support for sports and youth activity in the governorate.
During the honoring, Al-Nusairi and Al-Barai praised the level of organization, football performance, and sportsmanship that prevailed throughout the tournament competitions among the 48 teams. They explained that holding the tournament comes in loyalty and immortalization of the sacrifices of the martyr Captain Abdullah Shara and all the martyrs of the ports who gave their lives for the homeland.
