Sana'a: The Shura Council mourned its former Deputy Speaker and member, Mohsen Mohammed Mohammed Al-Alfi, who passed away at the age of 85, after a life dedicated to serving the nation in various political and parliamentary fields.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Council affirmed in a statement of condolence that the deceased was one of the most prominent national figures who left a clear mark on the institutional, judicial, and constitutional work in the country. The statement noted that the deceased held numerous high-ranking leadership positions, including Attorney General, Chairman of the Supreme Elections Committee, Head of the Disciplinary Court, Director General of Security for Taiz Governorate, and several ministerial portfolios such as Justice, Religious Endowments and Guidance, Interior, and Social Affairs and Labor. He was also appointed Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council and continued to serve as an active member of the Council until his death.
The statement highlighted his significant contributions to the establishment of many institutions, including the creation and organization of the Disciplinary Court, the establishment of the Public Prosecution Office as an independent judicial body and the issuance of its governing regulations, as well as his role in establishing the Higher Judicial Institute and numerous other bodies and institutes affiliated with the Ministry of the Interior. He also played a key role in organizing local administration in the districts and defining their administrative, service, and security powers. The statement praised the deceased's virtues, highlighting his administrative competence, profound patriotism, and prominent role in enriching the Council's discussions and strengthening its legislative and advisory functions. It emphasized that his passing is a great loss to the Yemeni political and parliamentary community, which has lost a seasoned politician and a dedicated statesman who devoted his life to serving the nation .
The Shura Council expressed its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the sons of the deceased, Nabil, Abdul Malik, and Muhammad, and to all members of the Al-Alfi family in Sana'a Governorate, praying to Allah Almighty to grant him His abundant mercy and forgiveness, to admit him to Paradise, and to grant his family and loved ones patience and solace.
