Slaughterhouses in Sana’a City Announce Readiness to Receive Sacrificial Animals

Sana'a: The Slaughterhouses and Meat Markets Office in Sana'a City announced the readiness of public slaughterhouses to receive sacrificial animals and provide services according to health and safety standards.

According to Yemen News Agency, Office Director Ahmed Idris confirmed that 12 slaughterhouses have been equipped to offer Eid al-Adha sacrificial animal slaughtering services for citizens, associations, and organizations. The animals will undergo inspection before and after slaughter, and waste will be disposed of properly and hygienically.

Idris indicated that all preparations have been completed to receive and slaughter sacrificial animals at the central slaughterhouse in Dar Salam and the model slaughterhouse in Nuqum, primarily for large animals, in addition to other types of livestock. Branch slaughterhouses have been set up in various districts including Shu'ub, Taiz Roundabout, Dhofar, Hadda, Al-Amana, Al-Tahrir, 20th Street, Daris, Al-Rawda, and Beit Al-Nawm. The facilities will be operational around the clock during the days of Tashreeq. The preparation plan involved providing necessary facilities and qualified personnel for both central and branch slaughterhouses, ensuring compliance with health standards, and implementing preventive measures to guarantee the safety of the animals for human consumption.

Idris pointed out that field teams have been deployed to enhance health monitoring of livestock and sacrificial animals. These teams are conducting on-site inspections to ensure safety and freedom from infectious diseases, and to control violations and random slaughtering in streets and neighborhoods, in coordination with relevant offices and security authorities.

He urged citizens to utilize these slaughterhouses instead of slaughtering animals in streets and neighborhoods, to maintain public hygiene and reduce health and environmental risks. Field campaigns are planned to address any violations. The Director emphasized community awareness, highlighting the distribution of brochures and informational posters on the conditions for sacrificial animals, proper meat handling, and the importance of official slaughterhouses.

He also reported the completion of a project to rehabilitate and maintain the slaughter hall at the Dar Salam Central Slaughterhouse, equipped with modern machinery to enhance service efficiency and increase cattle slaughtering capacity, funded by the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Funding Unit of the Municipality.
