Sana'a: The Supreme Elections and Referendum Committee mourned its Chairman, the esteemed Judge Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed Al-Salmi, who passed away today at the age of 74, after a life dedicated to serving the nation and the judiciary.
According to Yemen News Agency, the committee expressed deep sorrow in its statement of condolence, highlighting the virtues and contributions of Judge Al-Salmi to his country. He was a prominent figure known for his sincerity and dedication in the positions he held, most recently as the head of the Supreme Elections and Referendum Committee.
The statement emphasized that Judge Al-Salmi was a model of integrity and a dedicated scholar in all responsibilities entrusted to him. His career in the judiciary began after graduating with a Bachelor of Sharia and Law from Sana'a University in 1976. He rose through the ranks to hold high judicial positions such as Deputy Attorney General, Appeals Judge, and Deputy Head of the Court of Appeals, ultimately reaching the rank of Supreme Court Judge.
The committee highlighted his significant roles throughout his career, including serving as an assistant in the Hodeidah District Court, a judge in the Zabid Court, Deputy Public Prosecutor in the governorate, Head of the Wasab Al-Safil and Criminal Courts in Hodeidah, Head of the Hodeidah Governorate Court of Appeals, and a member of the Technical Office and Civil Division of the Supreme Court, culminating in his chairmanship of the Elections and Referendum Committee.
The statement affirmed that Yemen has suffered a great loss with the passing of Judge Al-Salmi, a prominent judicial and legal figure and a dedicated national personality with honorable stances. The committee extended its sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to his children, family members, the entire Al-Salmi family, and his colleagues in the judicial and legal community, asking Allah Almighty to grant him mercy, admit him to Paradise, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace.
The deceased will be laid to rest today in his hometown of Zabid, in Al-Hudaydah Governorate. "To Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return."
