Sana'a: The Ministry of Culture and Tourism organized a cultural symposium today entitled "Tanouma and Sadwan: Yemen's Deep Wound Between Past and Present," commemorating the 106th anniversary of the horrific massacre of Yemeni pilgrims in Tanoumah and Sadwan. The event aimed to shed light on the historical significance of the tragedy and its lasting impact on Yemen.
According to Yemen News Agency, three papers were presented at the symposium. The first paper, presented by Dr. Hamoud Al-Ahnumi, Vice President of Sana'a University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, addressed the motives and events of the major pilgrims' massacre in Tanoumah and Sadwan perpetrated by the forces of Ibn Saud in 1923.
The symposium served as a platform for scholars and historians to discuss the massacre's implications for Yemeni history and collective memory. The presentations aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the events and foster dialogue on preserving Yemen's cultural heritage amidst ongoing challenges.
