Taiz: The Anti-Smuggling Unit, alongside the Taiz Customs and Control Office, has uncovered a significant cache of smuggled medicines within a warehouse used by smugglers. This operation marks a significant security accomplishment, showcasing the effective coordination and alertness of official agencies.
According to Yemen News Agency, Director General of the Taiz Customs and Control Office, Mohammed Al-Mahfdi, disclosed that the operation was the result of meticulous monitoring and intensive investigations. The smugglers were intercepted as they attempted to unload and transport the medicines using a motorcycle.
The confiscated items included over 12,050 strips, 14,602 ampoules of medicine, 691 vials, 257 medical supplies, 87 tablets, and 1,279 boxes of pills, drops, and syrup. Al-Mahfdi lauded the efforts of the Anti-Smuggling Unit's leadership and personnel, as well as the collaboration between all entities involved in the mission.
Furthermore, Al-Mahfdi underscored the importance of enhancing coordination and developing joint working mechanisms to sustain these achievements. He highlighted the critical role of customs as the primary defense against smuggling, stressing the need for bolstering the capabilities of anti-smuggling units to counteract the advanced techniques employed by smugglers.
