Traffic Police Extend Final 30-Day Exemption for Fines and Registrations

Sana’a: The Traffic Police have announced a final 30-day extension of exemptions and discounts on accumulated traffic fines and overdue vehicle registration renewals. In a statement issued on Monday, the Traffic Police confirmed that the reduced fees will remain in effect until the end of Muharram 1448 AH, after which charges will revert to their previous rates in accordance with applicable regulations.

According to Yemen News Agency, the extension was granted to consider citizens’ circumstances and to ease their financial burdens. The previous exemption and discount period, which ended before Eid al-Adha, coincided with Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, and Eid al-Adha holidays, a time when household expenses typically increase.

The Traffic Police emphasized that once the extension period expires, fines and renewal fees will be charged at their full rates without any exceptions. Enforcement campaigns will begin immediately after the deadline, as the automated exemption and discount system cannot remain open indefinitely. Administrative procedures must distinguish between those who promptly took advantage of the incentives and regularized their status, and those who deliberately failed to do so despite the exceptional initiative offered by the Ministry of Interior through the Traffic Police.

The Traffic Police further urged owners of old manual registration booklets to take advantage of this final opportunity. Such documents will no longer be recognized after the deadline and will be considered invalid, carrying no future legal value as proof of ownership.
