Sana'a: The Traffic Police in the capital city of Sana'a have issued a set of safety guidelines designed to protect students and ensure smooth traffic flow as the 1448 AH academic year begins.
According to Yemen News Agency, the guidelines are part of an operational plan focused on facilitating student movement to and from schools safely while reducing congestion around educational facilities. The Traffic Police's statement highlighted the importance of adhering to traffic rules and safety instructions, urging drivers, pedestrians, parents, and school administrations to avoid risky behaviors that could endanger students.
Key aspects of the guidelines include measures to prevent students from chasing or clinging to moving vehicles and ensuring that students board and disembark safely only after vehicles have come to a complete stop. The statement also stressed the importance of using designated safe areas away from roads for these activities. Additionally, it emphasized the need for safe road-crossing practices and advised against gathering or playing on main roads near schools.
The guidelines also called on drivers of school transport to comply with traffic regulations, reduce speed near schools, avoid driving the wrong way, and park properly to prevent congestion and ensure student safety.
