Sana'a: A training course aimed at enhancing the technical and administrative skills of agricultural associations in Ibb Governorate has concluded. The initiative, part of a broader program to develop the capacities of agricultural associations, was organized by the Bonyan Development Foundation in collaboration with the local authority and the ministries of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, and Social Affairs and Labor.
According to Yemen News Agency, the 10-day course was implemented by the Bonyan Training and Qualification Academy, with funding from the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in Ibb. This collaborative effort also involved the agriculture sector, the Social Affairs and Labor Office, and the branch of the Agricultural Cooperative Union. The course trained 30 members from the administrative bodies of various agricultural associations across the districts of Al-Odain, Hazm Al-Odain, Yarim, Al-Qafr, Al-Saddah, and Hubeish. The focus was on equipping them with skills to enhance their roles in supporting the agricultural sector and promoting sustainable development.
The training provided knowledge on development mechanisms, public policies for advancing agriculture, and strategies for activating productive groups. These efforts aim to help associations improve agricultural inputs, increase production, reduce costs, and optimize resources.
During the closing ceremony, Dr. Mohammed Al-Qadri, Director of the Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in Ibb, emphasized the importance of building the capacities of agricultural associations. He highlighted that this is crucial for the success of development initiatives and sustainable economic growth. Dr. Al-Qadri stated that investing in local capacities can positively influence agricultural production and enhance farmers' livelihoods.
Al-Qadri also assured continued support for specialized training and qualification programs that improve the efficiency of associations. He called on associations to implement the knowledge and expertise gained into practical plans, which will improve institutional performance and expand agricultural and development initiatives in the districts.
Diaa Abdullah, the development team coordinator in the governorate, remarked that the course aligns with the Bonyan Foundation's mission to strengthen agricultural associations. The aim is to prepare qualified personnel capable of managing initiatives and projects based on modern scientific and development approaches. Abdullah noted that agricultural associations play a crucial role in achieving food security, and developing their technical units enhances the services provided to farmers, expands community activities, and promotes self-sufficiency.
Participants expressed gratitude to the organizers and supporters, acknowledging that the course offered valuable practical knowledge and experience in planning, management, and agricultural development. They believe this will contribute positively to the performance of associations and support farmers in the targeted districts.
