Hodeida: The 23rd and 24th free eye medical camps have been launched in the al-Zuhra district of Hodeida province. These camps are organized by Grameen Yemen Foundation in coordination with the Ministry of Public Health and Environment and its local office.
According to Yemen News Agency, the two camps are set to run for 14 days with the objective of examining and treating more than 1,500 patients from the al-Ma'aras area and nearby districts. The services provided will include cataract surgeries and lens implants.
Camp director Nasr al-Dabab stated that the services encompass free consultations, medication, and approximately 700 surgical procedures. These procedures will be supervised by Professor Yahya Al-Ghassali alongside a team of specialized ophthalmologists.
The initial three days of the camps will focus on screenings and determining the cases that require surgery. This initiative is a continuation of 22 previous camps organized by Grameen Yemen Medical Center, which successfully carried out 7,085 free cataract and lens implant surgeries for low-income and vulnerable patients.
