Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs and UN OCHA Head Discuss Humanitarian Efforts in Yemen

Sana'a: Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates for International Cooperation, Ambassador Ismail al-Mutawakel, met with Karin Hellweg, Head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen.

According to Yemen News Agency, Hellweg conveyed her condolences regarding the recent attack targeting the Prime Minister and his entourage. During the meeting, Ambassador al-Mutawakel expressed his appreciation for this gesture of solidarity and the spirit of humanitarian partnership it reflects. He affirmed the Ministry's readiness to enhance cooperation with humanitarian partners to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and strengthen humanitarian efforts.

Karin Hellweg expressed her regret over the attack on the Prime Minister and his companions, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between OCHA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, represented by its International Cooperation Directorate, in various humanitarian areas. She emphasized OCHA's commitment to strengthening the existing coordination between the two sides and working to further develop it to ensure the continued implementation of humanitarian programs and projects. Hellweg stated that OCHA will continue to work with the government in Sana'a to support humanitarian operations.
