Gaza: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that it has provided over 15 million health consultations since the start of the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip.
According to Yemen News Agency, UNRWA shared the story of an elderly Palestinian refugee in Gaza in a post on its X platform on Friday. The post highlighted the plight of Mohammed, one of the many people forcibly displaced in Gaza, who is currently sheltering in one of UNRWA's schools and relies on the agency's health teams for medical care.
"Mohammed is one of hundreds of thousands of people forcibly displaced in Gaza. He is sheltering in one of UNRWA's schools and relies on our health teams - which are often the only healthcare available to families," the agency stated.
Despite the ongoing challenges, UNRWA has managed to deliver over 15 million health consultations since the conflict began. For individuals like Mohammed, the services provided by UNRWA represent a vital lifeline and hope amidst the ongoing crisis.
The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip took effect on October 10, following a two-year-long conflict. However, daily violations of the agreement by the Israeli army have been reported, with restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into the Strip still in place.
