Damt: The local branch of the Water and Sanitation Corporation in Damt District, Dhalea Governorate, implemented a number of projects during the past period of 1447 AH.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Director General of the Corporation, Engineer Ahmed Al-Halqabi, highlighted that the Corporation completed water projects with an 80% coverage rate in Damt District and its surrounding areas. The total number of expansion, maintenance, and extension projects reached four, with a value of 11 million riyals.
Engineer Al-Halqabi elaborated on the Qa'a Al-Jabr project, which was implemented at a cost of $93,000. It was jointly funded by the Corporation and the Red Cross, which contributed $73,000. The project measures 11,000 meters in length and benefits 7,000 people. Furthermore, he noted that the pumping line in the Al-Mawda'a area was successfully repaired at a cost of seven million riyals, with a significant community contribution of three million riyals from businessman Abdu Al-Awdi.
The Director General also stated that the total number of sanitation projects reached three, valued at 43 million riyals. This was in addition to the fencing of the treatment plant grounds at a cost of 40 million riyals, funded by the local authority. He mentioned the preparation of studies for a wastewater treatment project for the basins, valued at two million riyals, funded by the institution. Efforts are reportedly underway to secure funding for the project, which, according to the studies, is valued at one billion riyals.
Engineer Al-Halqabi pointed out ongoing work to extend the sewage network on Street 8, which branches off to Street 16, for a length of 125 meters at a cost of three million and one hundred thousand riyals. Additional work is being conducted on the western ring road for a length of 1,400 meters at a cost of one million riyals, and on the central ring road for a length of 132 meters at a cost of four million and six hundred thousand riyals.
