Taiz: The National Center for Meteorology and Early Warning expects scattered and varied thunderstorms on the mountain highlands and parts of the coasts, and hot weather in desert areas over the next 24 hours.
According to Yemen News Agency, the center stated in its weather bulletin that the weather may be clear to partly cloudy during the night and early morning, turning during the day to partly cloudy to cloudy, with possible thunderstorms of varying intensity in the provinces of Taiz, Ibb, Al-Dhale'e, Dhamar, Rima, and Al-Mahwit.
Scattered rain, sometimes accompanied by thunder, is expected on the highlands of Lahj and Abyan, Al-Bayda, western Sana'a and Sa'dah, Hajjah, Amran, and the highlands and Tihama plain, with the possibility of mist or fog forming over parts of them during the evening and early morning hours.
The center also forecasts that the weather will be clear to partly cloudy, hot and humid, with maximum temperatures in the plains and coastal areas ranging between 36-40 degrees Celsius, with possible scattered rain on parts of the Socotra Archipelago and the western and southern coasts. Winds will be moderate in speed, occasionally active, ranging between 12-25 knots.
In desert areas, the weather may be clear to partly cloudy and hot to extremely hot, with maximum temperatures ranging between 36-43 degrees Celsius. Winds will be light to moderate in speed, occasionally active, stirring up dust and sand.
The center warned citizens of flash floods in streams and valleys, and against being in or crossing watercourses during and after rainfall, as well as of thunderstorms, advising against being near electrical poles and high places and trees.
It also warned of hot and extremely hot weather, advising against direct exposure to sunlight during the afternoon and to drink plenty of fluids.
