Bajil: The General Authority for the Development of Tihama (Central Agricultural Zone) has initiated a training workshop in Bajil District, Hodeidah Governorate, to qualify 'Livestock Champions,' supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, alongside the local authority in the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the two-day workshop is organized in cooperation with the district's local council, the General Mobilization, and in partnership with Bajil Association. The workshop aims to enhance the capacity of the local community to preserve and develop livestock. It seeks to equip 28 livestock champions with knowledge and skills on herd management methods, modern breeding practices, proper feeding techniques, and to raise awareness about the risks of slaughtering female livestock and its negative impact on food security.

At the opening, Adel Sam, the head of the Bajil Agricultural Cooperative Association, emphasized the pivotal role of development champions as an effective link between official authorities and livestock breeders in the field. This ensures that agricultural guidance and veterinary services reach those who need them.

He noted that this initiative reflects the state's direction towards activating voluntary work and community initiatives to achieve self-sufficiency and protect national resources from depletion, particularly in light of the challenges facing the agricultural and livestock sectors in the Tihama Plain.
