Sana'a: The General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs, in cooperation with the General Administration for Combating Drugs, organized an awareness workshop in Sana'a focusing on the role of land transport in combating drug smuggling.
According to Yemen News Agency, the workshop was held in conjunction with the International Day against Drug Abuse and saw the participation of 100 managers of land transport companies and sorting delegates in the Capital Secretariat. The aim was to enhance security awareness and activate the preventive role of the transport sector in supporting efforts to curb smuggling activities.
Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mu'ayyad, Chairman of the Authority, emphasized at the opening that combating drugs is both a religious and national responsibility, necessitating collaboration between security agencies and relevant authorities. He highlighted the land transport sector as a crucial line of defense in protecting society and preventing the spread of drugs, commending the awareness efforts of the General Administration for Combating Drugs.
Colonel Abdul Salam Al-Murtada, Deputy Director General of the General Administration for Combating Drugs, expressed appreciation for the coordination with the Land Transport Authority. He noted that forming partnerships with service sectors is vital for enhancing control and prevention, through training workers to identify and report any suspicious activities.
Participants of the workshop engaged in a lecture detailing the common methods and routes used in smuggling operations and the legal and security measures to detect and handle them. Discussions and interventions during the event emphasized the importance of ongoing training programs to foster a culture of community responsibility.
The workshop was attended by leaders from both the General Administration for Combating Drugs and the General Authority for Regulating Land Transport Affairs, contributing to a rich exchange of ideas and strategies.
