Workshop to Enrich Graduation Ceremonies Guide for Yemeni Universities

Sana'a: The Higher Education Sector, in cooperation with Al-Rasheed Smart University, organized a workshop on Wednesday to discuss and enrich the draft guide for graduation ceremonies for students of public, private universities, community colleges, and their equivalents.

According to Yemen News Agency, the workshop aimed to enhance the project and establish an official framework aligned with Yemeni societal values and identity, reduce arbitrary and individual practices, and enable universities and community colleges to properly honor talented and creative students.

During the workshop, Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Hatem Al-Daees, emphasized that the workshop was held in implementation of the ministry leadership's directives to organize graduation ceremonies and develop a dedicated guide that reflects the nation's faith-based identity while preserving Yemen's authentic values, customs, and traditions.

He pointed out that the guide would include a set of principles and procedures that everyone must adhere to, highlighting the importance of linking all graduation events to their core purpose.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector, stressed the importance of producing an initial draft to be reviewed and finalized before submission to the ministry leadership for approval.

Dr. Abdul Latif Haidar, President of Al-Rasheed University, affirmed the university's keenness to host the workshop to discuss and enrich the graduation ceremonies guide, contributing to the organization of such events.

Abdul Karim Al-Dhahak, Director of Student Activities at the Higher Education Sector, presented the contents of the draft guide, the steps for its preparation and approval, its objectives, and the procedures governing its implementation.

The workshop, attended by Dr. Jamil Majli, Vice President of 21 September University for Student Affairs, directors of student activities in public, private universities, community colleges, and several ministry officials, divided participants into groups to discuss and enrich the guide.

Additionally, the Deputy Minister of Education and Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector, along with the President of Al-Rasheed University, visited the university's medical and engineering labs and reviewed the progress in equipping and furnishing the university's educational and investment hospital, which has a capacity of 136 beds.
