Yemeni Foreign Ministry Urges Islamic Countries to Address Saudi Actions

Sanaa:Yemen's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has called on Islamic countries to take a proactive role in ending the Saudi-led aggression and blockade against Yemen. This appeal comes ahead of the 52nd session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation's Council of Foreign Ministers, which is set to take place on October 17-18 in Baghdad.

According to Yemen News Agency, the ministry urged member states to work towards reconciliation in line with Islamic teachings and to dismiss Saudi Arabia's claims that Yemen is targeting the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah. The ministry emphasized that such allegations are offensive to the Yemeni people, who are committed to safeguarding Islamic holy sites.

The ministry stated that Sanaa's demands focus on ending the aggression and blockade, which have resulted in severe suffering for the Yemeni population. It accused Saudi Arabia of targeting civilians, including women and children, as well as attacking infrastructure such as homes, hospitals, schools, and other civilian facilities over the past 12 years.

Further accusations from the ministry include the use of economic restrictions as a weapon, leading to starvation, salary cuts, and the closure of Sana'a International Airport, all of which have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. The ministry highlighted that these actions are well documented and should be addressed by the international community and the Muslim world.

The ministry also accused Saudi Arabia of initiating the latest escalation by targeting Sana'a International Airport and carrying out over 2,000 airstrikes against civilian targets. It called on Islamic countries to take a responsible stance against these actions. Additionally, the ministry refuted Saudi claims against Sana'a, expressing readiness to contest them before any impartial body, and assured that maritime navigation in the Red Sea remains secure, attributing threats to Saudi escalation.
