Sana'a: While countries and peoples in Latin and Central America, as well as Africa, take courageous stances against the systematic crimes of genocide and starvation committed against the residents of the Gaza Strip by the Zionist entity with American support, some Arab and Islamic regimes have remained silent and idle spectators since October 7, 2023, until today.
According to Yemen News Agency, worse still, some of these regimes, which boast of their Arab identity, are extending land, sea, and air bridges to the enemy entity, while millions of Palestinians in Gaza die from hunger and bombardment. This has reached the point where food and medical aid drops for the besieged in the Strip have resulted in the killing and injuring of many civilians seeking to stave off hunger-never expecting that death would stalk them even in their search for life.
The Arab and Islamic stance toward the crimes unfolding in Gaza-crimes that shame all of humanity-has not shifted even slightly in favor of the victims, but has instead clearly sided with the executioner. This is reflected in the growth of trade and economic activity with the enemy entity by several Arab and Islamic countries-most notably Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan-according to maritime tracking sites monitoring ships via satellite.
Despite the enormity of the tragedy, these regimes have not even matched Brazil's stance, which expelled the Zionist ambassador in February 2024, nor the positions of Latin American countries or South Africa, which on December 29, 2023, submitted an official request to the International Court of Justice accusing Israel of committing acts of genocide in Gaza.
The Palestinian resistance factions, despite facing the brutality of the new Nazism, have not requested military intervention from Arab or Islamic regimes. Instead, they have called for a firm political stance against the enemy's backers-foremost among them the United States-in order to pressure Israel to end its aggression and lift its blockade, considering such action a means of implementing relevant international legitimacy resolutions regarding the genocide in Gaza over the past 22 months.
However, those regimes have chosen to plead with the U.S. administration, which for more than seventy years has been the primary sponsor of the Zionist entity's dominance in the region, ignoring the fact that it is the driving force behind the 'Greater Israel' plan that extends beyond Palestine to target other Arab countries.
One of the most notable images of solidarity with Gaza came when workers at the port of Genoa in Italy imposed a blockade on the Saudi ship Bahri Yanbu, which was carrying weapons to Israel, according to the World Socialist Web Site (WSWS). This also served as glaring evidence of the level of Saudi-Israeli cooperation-now out in the open after years of secrecy.
As for Yemen's stance-both official and popular-it has been exceptional at the regional level. Its direction and objectives were set from the first day of aggression against Gaza, and were translated into concrete action through the continued operations of the armed forces across multiple stages, striking deep inside enemy-held Palestinian territory and imposing a total blockade on Israeli or Israel-linked vessels in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea, and as far as the eastern Mediterranean.
This practical course Yemen has taken in supporting Gaza-from the naval blockade to striking deep inside the Zionist entity-takes on even greater meaning amid the humanitarian catastrophe facing the Strip and the abandonment of any meaningful role by Arab and Islamic regimes. Yemen thus remains both witness and active participant in the battle to break the siege, serving as a key pillar of the Arab front of steadfastness against the occupation.
History will record the humiliating and disgraceful positions of Arab and Islamic regimes that, while seeing and hearing the Zionist genocide and systematic starvation in Gaza, took no practical steps to save the residents of the Strip from certain death by bombing or hunger. Meanwhile, Yemen solidifies its role as an active force in the confrontation front and a supporter of the resistance-proving that action on the ground is what writes the record of honor in the nation's struggle.
