Yemen’s Speaker of Parliament Sends Urgent Letter to Qatar’s Shura Council Speaker

Sanaa:Speaker of the House of Representatives in Sanaa, Sheikh Yahya Ali Al-Ra'i, has addressed a letter to Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of Qatar's Shura Council. The letter provides an overview of the humanitarian and political situation in Yemen, highlighting the impact of Saudi aggression and the ongoing blockade.

According to Yemen News Agency, Sheikh Yahya Al-Ra'i detailed that Yemen's military actions are a response to the prolonged blockade and military operations by the Saudi regime, which have continued for over 12 years. He cited UN figures that report 60,000 civilians have been killed or injured since March 2015. Additionally, more than 1.4 million Yemenis have reportedly died due to the blockade, lack of healthcare, and difficulty accessing medical treatment abroad.

The Speaker of Yemen's Parliament held the Saudi regime accountable for escalating military tensions and not adhering to the roadmap agreements. He accused them of targeting Sanaa International Airport in July, mobilizing military forces, and conducting airstrikes that have damaged civilian infrastructure, farms, and economic facilities. Sheikh Yahya Al-Ra'i called on Qatar to reassess its humanitarian and political stance on Yemen, urging support for halting aggression, lifting the blockade, and fostering a peace based on respecting sovereignty and non-interference.

He reiterated the commitment to securing navigation in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab Strait, accusing the Saudi regime of militarizing the area by attacking Mayun Island's lighthouse and an Indian yacht on October 22, 2026. The letter argues that Saudi Arabia's actions contradict the values of peace and coexistence and urges Qatar to advocate for justice and help end Yemeni suffering, leading to sustainable peace.
