Sana'a: Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Nabih Nasser, congratulated the national U-17 football team, its technical and administrative staff on their well-deserved qualification for the 2026 AFC Asian Cup finals. The national team secured its place in the finals after defeating Laos 4-2 and achieving a perfect record of 15 points throughout the qualification campaign.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Deputy Minister praised the team's performance, fighting spirit, and high level of discipline, which enabled the young champions to assert their presence strongly, dominate their opponents, and deliver performances that met the aspirations of millions of Yemenis. He described this achievement as the result of dedicated work and outstanding preparation in the capital, Sana'a, highlighting how the stable and committed domestic environment contributed to this success.
He also commended the leadership of the esteemed coach Haitham Al-Asbahi, a continuation of the golden school of youth football, noting that the coach and his talented team have revived hope and brought joy to Yemen's sports community. He congratulated Yemeni fans at home and abroad on the team's clear and deserved qualification, wishing the team continued success in delivering honorable performances and delighting the Yemeni public.
