Zakat Authority Initiates Distribution of In-Kind Baskets to Alleviate Poverty

Al jawf: The General Zakat Authority office in Al Jawf governorate has initiated a significant project aimed at distributing in-kind baskets to the impoverished and needy, marking the commencement of the tenth phase for the year 2026. This initiative targets a total of 2,868 needy families, with an estimated allocation of 86 million and 40 thousand Yemeni riyals distributed across various districts within the governorate.

According to Yemen News Agency, the secretary of the local council in the governorate, Ali Hameed, expressed his appreciation for the authority's projects. He highlighted the dedication of zakat payers in fulfilling their social obligations, which plays a crucial role in enhancing the well-being of the poor and needy. Hameed acknowledged the significance of social solidarity in improving the lives of disadvantaged communities.

Majed Al Umaysi, the director of the disbursement channels in the governorate, emphasized that the project is part of the authority's broader efforts to foster social solidarity and reduce poverty. He urged merchants and wealth owners to actively participate in building a cooperative and supportive society.
