Zakat Office in Hodeidah Launches Massive Food Basket Distribution for Western Coast Areas

Sana'a: The office of the General Authority for Zakat in Hodeidah Governorate today initiated a project aimed at distributing 30,000 food baskets to families in the liberated regions of the western coast, amounting to a total cost of 600 million riyals. This initiative is a response to the directives from the revolutionary leader, Sayyid Abdulmalik Badr al-Din al-Houthi, focusing on supporting the inhabitants of these areas.

According to Yemen News Agency, the project targets the most affected families in Al-Khawkhah and Hays districts and other parts of the western coast districts in Hodeidah. During the project's launch, Ali Al-Saqqaf, the Undersecretary of the General Authority for Zakat, emphasized the commitment of the Authority and its leadership to follow the revolutionary leadership's directives. This humanitarian effort is seen as a way to fulfill the religious and social obligation of zakat, fostering unity and support among the community.

Al-Saqqaf highlighted the Authority's focus on the coastal areas, implementing both relief and sustainable development projects to bolster resilience and fulfill the residents' essential living needs. He described the distribution of food baskets as a reward for the sacrifices made in these liberated areas, reinforcing the leadership's dedication to normalizing life and addressing basic necessities.

Mohammed Hazza, director of the Zakat office in the governorate, stated that the food basket distribution is part of emergency humanitarian projects on the western coast, designed to meet urgent needs and stabilize families in liberated areas. He assured that aid is delivered through an organized field track to ensure it reaches deserving recipients, thereby enhancing their resilience.

Hazza also mentioned the ongoing assessment of family needs in the liberated districts, with a focus on field projects that serve the local community and support the underprivileged, aligning with the Authority's social and humanitarian responsibilities.

Marwan Al-Hulaisi, director of Hays District, praised the initiative, viewing it as a significant step towards strengthening citizen resilience and easing their living challenges under current conditions. The launch saw attendance from several officials, including directors of various Zakat projects and offices, reinforcing the collaborative effort in this humanitarian mission.
