Sana’a: The General Authority of Zakat Office in the Capital Secretariat has provided medical assistance to over 3,000 poor and needy patients, with aid worth one billion Yemeni riyals. This initiative is part of the office’s mission to alleviate the suffering of financially distressed individuals.
According to Yemen News Agency, the Zakat Office’s medical assistance project is a key initiative enabling vulnerable groups to access healthcare services. Since the start of this year, the office has issued 3,261 medical aid referrals between January and April 2026, covering treatment costs for beneficiaries in contracted hospitals and healthcare centers.
This achievement results from coordinated efforts across the Zakat Office’s departments, focusing on strengthening revenue resources and managing disbursement channels. The process includes assessment, verification, distribution, and issuance of medical referrals to ensure aid reaches eligible beneficiaries effectively.
The project reflects ongoing efforts to facilitate healthcare access and consistently approve medical referrals, providing real treatment opportunities. The leadership of the Zakat Authority Office is committed to overcoming challenges and continuing humanitarian projects despite the aggression, ensuring zakat funds reach those in need within the framework of legitimate zakat categories.
Mohammed Al-Alfi, Director of the General Authority of Zakat Office, emphasized that the figures represent a changing humanitarian reality, with each referral carrying a story of suffering and hope. The project aims to reduce financial burdens on needy families, especially amidst the current challenges facing the Yemeni people.
Al-Alfi highlighted the office’s dedication to improving zakat-related work, developing aid distribution mechanisms, and implementing projects that address the needs of the poor. Abdullah Muhi Al-Din, Director of the Disbursement Department, affirmed efforts to ensure the project’s success by partnering with healthcare authorities and making treatment accessible to those in need.
