Al-qa'idah city: 184 surgeries were performed at the 77th and 78th free medical camps for eye, maxillofacial, and cleft lip surgery, organized by the Health Care Association for Affected Communities in Al-Qa'idah City, Ibb Governorate, on the occasion of the Prophet's Birthday.
According to Yemen News Agency, Dr. Nashwan Al-Attab, head of the association, explained that 170 surgeries were performed during the eye camp, which was held at Al-Qa'idah General Hospital in Dhi As-Sufal District and funded by the General Authority for Zakat. These included 124 cataract surgeries and 46 pterygium excisions.
He noted that the camp provided medical services to 1,257 patients over six days, in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Environment and its office in the governorate, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of patients from impoverished families. Dr. Al-Attab reported that 14 surgeries were performed at the maxillofacial surgery camp, including eight major procedures such as bilateral cleft lip repair and cleft palate reconstruction and correction, along with cleft lip repair. Six intermediate surgeries were also performed, including cleft palate and cleft lip repair.
He noted that the camp targeted complex cases that had accumulated over years and were excluded from all other camps due to their complexity.
