2,800 Cartons of Expired Soft Drinks Destroyed in Al-Hodeidah

Sanaa: The Office of Economy, Industry, and Investment in Al-Hodeidah Governorate destroyed today 2,800 cartons of expired soft drinks that were seized during ongoing market inspection campaigns.

According to Yemen News Agency, the destruction process was carried out in coordination with relevant authorities and the competent prosecution. It included 2,559 cartons of the local soft drink (Bisan) packaged in 250 ml plastic bottles in apple, orange, lemon, cola, and diet cola flavors, in addition to 255 cartons of 250 ml metal cans, after their expiration was confirmed.

The Director of the Economy Office in the governorate, Saleh Atifah, explained to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that the destruction process comes within the framework of ongoing oversight efforts to regulate markets and withdraw goods and products that violate approved specifications and standards, contributing to protecting citizens' health and enhancing food safety.

He affirmed the office's commitment to enhancing coordination with security agencies and relevant authorities to ensure the circulation of goods that meet requirements, and to continue inspection campaigns on warehouses, commercial shops, and ports, and to take legal measures against violators.

Atifah called on traders and importers to adhere to health standards and verify product validity before putting them on the market. He also urged citizens to report any expired or suspicious goods, to enhance consumer protection and food and environmental security in the governorate.
