Sana'a: Acting Minister of Economy, Industry and Investment Sam al-Bashiri stressed on Monday the importance of taking measures to protect local electrical products from market dumping, during a visit to an electrical manufacturing facility in the capital Sana'a.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the visit to the 'New Sam' electrical manufacturing factory, Sam al-Bashiri, accompanied by senior officials including Industry and Economic Cities Undersecretary Sami Maqbooli, the executive director of the Yemen Organization for Standards, Metrology and Quality Control Abdullah al-Atefi, and the head of the Capital Sana'a Chamber of Commerce Ali al-Hadi, reviewed the production process and praised the quality of locally manufactured electrical products.
Sam al-Bashiri emphasized that supporting local production is a fundamental pillar for strengthening the national economy, commending national investors who are engaging in advanced industrial sectors. He expressed the ministry's readiness to support the factory and similar initiatives, highlighting the importance of importers contributing to the promotion of local electrical products in the market.
The acting minister also directed the industry sector and the Chamber of Commerce in Sana'a to hold a meeting with importers to facilitate this approach, and instructed the standards authority to enforce quality control measures and prevent the entry of non-compliant imported electrical products.
