Hodeida: Hodeida governor Abdullah Atefi on Monday inaugurated summer course activities for inmates at the central correctional facility under the slogan 'Knowledge and Jihad,' aiming to rehabilitate and educate participants with beneficial knowledge.
According to Yemen News Agency, during the launch event, attended by MP Ali Mansari, Undersecretary for Services Mohammed Halisi, Chief Prosecutor Ahmed al-Shami, and Chief Judge Ahmed al-Qita, Abdullah Atefi reviewed the level of education within the summer classes, as well as the facilities and programs provided to inmates.
He listened to organizers explain the curriculum and accompanying cultural, sports, and vocational activities. Several participating inmates also expressed their satisfaction with joining the courses, noting the opportunity to make productive use of their time and develop their knowledge and personal values.
Abdullah Atefi emphasized the importance of transforming correctional facilities into centers for education, rehabilitation, and psychological and vocational development, helping inmates improve their behavior and reintegrate into society as constructive individuals.
He added that caring for inmates reflects a broader commitment to moral and educational reform, stressing the importance of using the summer period to promote knowledge and protect youth and inmates from harmful influences.
The governor described the launch of summer courses in correctional facilities as a reflection of efforts to strengthen educational and moral guidance, praising the level of participation and engagement among inmates.
At the event, Security Director Aziz al-Jaradi was also present, while Central Correctional Facility Director Tawfiq al-Ruziqi explained that the courses are part of a broader plan to rehabilitate inmates intellectually and psychologically, preparing them for positive reintegration into society after serving their sentences.
He noted that the programs include religious, cultural, and awareness activities focused on instilling positive values and developing inmates' skills across various fields.
