Sa'ada: The Agriculture Sector in Sa'ada Governorate, in collaboration with the local authority and the Education Sector, has initiated agricultural awareness activities for public schools for the 1448 AH academic year. The launch event took place at Al-Thawra School in Sa'ada City and is part of a broader cultural and skills development program aimed at equipping students with agricultural skills and fostering a culture of farming.
According to Yemen News Agency, the initiative seeks to benefit students, their families, and the broader community by promoting agricultural concepts and practices. Eng. Zakaria Al-Mutawakkil, an official from the Agriculture Sector, emphasized the program's role in encouraging secondary school students to consider enrolling in the Faculty of Agriculture at Sa'ada University.
Deputy Education Sector official Abdullah Al-Jalal highlighted the significance of these agricultural activities for students, noting their potential to promote self-sufficiency. He discussed plans for establishing a seed bank, cultivating seedlings, creating home gardens, and other agricultural initiatives. Al-Jalal confirmed the Education Sector's commitment to preparing schools, teachers, and students for participation in these activities, including the establishment of school nurseries.
Majd Al-Din Al-Razihi, Director of the Sa'ada Governor's Office, commended the local authority's support for the agricultural and educational sectors in implementing this initiative, viewing it as a foundational step towards achieving self-sufficiency.
During the launch event, Dr. Abdulaziz Maraha, Director of Agricultural Extension at the Agriculture Sector, presented the program's guidelines and outlined the activities planned for the targeted schools.
