Sana'a: The Agricultural Cooperative Union has issued a warning about the challenges national products are currently facing and highlighted ongoing efforts to undermine them. These actions, according to the Union, are aimed at weakening community endeavors to bolster local production and achieve self-reliance.

According to Yemen News Agency, the Union's statement emphasized that national products, which embody 'Yemen of goodness, Yemen of faith, and Yemen of divine signs,' are a critical pillar of the national economy. It further stressed that any attempts to circumvent policies designed to reduce imports and achieve self-sufficiency, or to introduce foreign products when local alternatives exist, constitute an economic crime. Such practices, it warned, threaten food security and contradict revolutionary and political directives that support the reliance on domestic production.

The Union called upon relevant authorities to fulfill their duties in safeguarding national production. It urged the implementation of necessary measures to halt any practices that might weaken or marginalize local products in the market, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the stability of the agricultural sector and ensuring the sustainability of production.

Furthermore, the Union highlighted that supporting and promoting national products is a collective responsibility. This requires the cooperation of official institutions, civil society, and consumers. The Union noted that such support is crucial for strengthening economic resilience and building fortitude in the face of current challenges.

In its concluding remarks, the Agricultural Cooperative Union reiterated its commitment to standing with farmers and local producers. It aims to strengthen trust in national products, thereby contributing to sustainable development and the achievement of self-sufficiency.
